One of the last major renovation gaps in Neubrandenburg downtown is finally closed: The square of Kramer St. (on the aerial photo left), Darrenstraße (front) , Beguinenstraße (on the green courtyard) and Dümperstraße (behind the red corner building). The view from the tower d. House of Culture and Education (locally as "Finger culture known as the the end of August almost completely renovated square from the air.
this to overview, then more shots from above.

The renovation has to exercise great care, as with most renovations of other East German post-war buildings in the center well. The architecture that we see here (especially visible on the 2nd picture below) to scold Socialist Classicism (also as "Stalinism" refers). This style gave the East German cities in the early years of the GDR structure although not to scale buildings, but the historicist buildings fit usually fairly well in the old towns, and were sometimes decorated with ornaments and other classical elements of style ( arcades , bay , dormers , gable etc.) provided.
addition, they created much-needed housing. The Stalinist style lasted a little over the death of Josef Stalin (1953) also, about the year 1960. Then they built mostly modernist, later adding the "efficient" panel technology. But more on that later in a separate special contribution more.

Krämerstraße - red corner building to Dümperstraße [1], street front in different distinct colors with rustifiziertem Ground (an invention of the renovation, it was not before - just like the profile edge on. to greet each case, the buildings thereby gain ! Enormous) [2]

Darrenstraße - were here to some extent the reliefs on the doors restored
DSC01316 DSC01318

Beguinenstraße - formerly tightly enclosed alley in the old town, we are now on the backyard the rehabilitated squares. The socialist new buildings were the former property boundaries and road alignments, unfortunately, often not. After all, it has rehabilitated in the renovation of the old balconies, instead of replacing it. There are, however, added new, where previously there were none.

Beguinenstraße - the last block of the redevelopment area behind the Market Square Center cleans out of it. [1], look at the police station [2]

Darrenstraße - On this side of the street nor appropriate thermal insulation panels. Normally not pleasing buildings, you can arrange here given the good results remediation comfortable with it. The rear of the Market Square Center is almost completed.

Now we ascend the tower already mentioned PCL (culture finger)

The rise (and the ride up the lift) is free.
At the top, is a look at the redesigned market place of Neubrandenburg.
Unfortunately, the result is a more than modest vision, here are the potentials, playful and create something sustainable for the citizens Appealing for the foreseeable future. See for yourself

to scale marketplace Center (ECE-chain, what else) in front of the new square design

In nascent space design in front of PCL ( House of Culture and Education ) [1],
zoom to the fountain system from the PCL [2] - here to be actually the Old Town Hall reconstructed, at least its outline should have included in the system with. Geschichstbewusstsein or local knowledge at the Dresden architect (see Dresdner post office)? Nada.

Marketplace - In the background Tollensesee . The focus is on the East German eyesores in the center, the crude Radisson SAS Hotel [1], zoom to a stairway from the garage, of course, all concrete and glass, alas [2]
DSC01337 DSC01339

Renewed View of the Radisson, with advertising for the lake. Sorry, get that many a visitor to see, very few dare to the battered market place (and move better on the wall or along the wall) [1] There was a new architectural sin: concrete air shaft, like a mushroom from the completely unnecessary parking (capacity: 15%) sprouts. Great sausage! [2]
DSC01345 DSC01338

Zoom in on the concrete disaster [1], before .. shapeless modernist light columns and clumsy seats Very inviting! [²]
DSC01344 DSC01343

look at the marketplace-monster by the Stargarder street ( Stargard Gate in the background, right the Mary's Church / Concert Church ) [1], View the parking lot behind the PCL with the underground car park right behind the trees (in the background: Police and Fangelturm) [2]
DSC01354 DSC01351

Turning to more pleasing on: Stargarder street itself has a obtain high-quality new surface, finally pedestrian-friendly curbs and qualitatively useful granite slabs on the footpath. However, we would have to re-pave all the more thoroughly on this page.
DSC01346

And finally a look at the newly-covered St. John's Lutheran Church. The Roof looks like new, whether it's really positive is, sometimes to be seen .. The beautiful patina was lost through the roof restoration, but that is unfortunately often wanted in Germany.
